Nepal Information Disaster Recovery Center Establishment Project

Model type : Other
This "Nepal Information Disaster Recovery Center Establishment" project has been Mproceeded since 2013 by KOICA considering specific environments Nepal is exposed to including natural disasters such as earthquakes. The project is to provide back-up system operation system for existing "Nepal Information Integration Data Center" with support of KOICA in order to minimize public data loss and operation damage in disaster situations.
Information Disaster Recovery Center is the system that recovers whole information in 1~24 hours from existing computation center(GIDC) malfunctioning from accidents(terror, conflagration, calamity, etc.) based on the acquired information from back-ups.
Unlike common-use data centers, many governments rely on critical information saved on e-government, which back-up of the information is quite crucial. NITC benchmarked best practice of many governments including the Korean government to establish Information Disaster Recovery Center(DRC) in Hetauda away from Kathmandu where GIDC is.

Gathering and sharing information

Once Information Disaster Recovery Center is established, GIDC credibility and availability will be maximized, considering vulnerable environment of Nepal to natural disasters and rapidly increasing e-government service. Also, Nepal government will enhance its role and status which could increase KOICA's aid efficiency and effectiveness in IT section.
